Downs Designs

Karen Bowersox of Ohio is a grandmother who saw a real need and did something about it.  Her granddaughter Maggie wanted to look great in jeans, the mainstay of teen fashion, but having Downs Syndrome meant her proportions, particularly leg length to height, did not jibe with industry standards.

Karen saw a wonderful opportunity to make a difference for those whose differences were already challenge enough.  Beginning with the longed-for jeans, her startup company took on the challenge and now offers 18 styles of jeans for men, women, teens and children.

“When they wear our pants and they fit and they look and feel more comfortable, they can be confident in themselves.”

This caring and creative grandmother, with no plans for retirement, is planning to grow Downs Designs to include more styles and sizes.

“I don’t go to work.  I go to love.  Every second is pure joy.”

The 2014 base article (just sent us by a follower of The Liahona Project) should be updated by going to the company’s current website HERE.

This company … born of  love … has become much more than it started out to be.

I am interested in clothes I do not have to redo for my daughter.
