In 2004, The Saints Unified Voices choir, organized and led by music superstar (and LDS convert) Gladys Knight, made an album called One Voice which won that year’s Grammy for Best Gospel Choir Or Chorus Album. Based in Las Vegas, the choir is made up of Latter-day Saints representing a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds.
Among the songs on the album was an unusual rendition of Come, Come, Ye Saints . . . with an African rhythm.
It seems the perfect version to celebrate the phenomenal growth of the Church in Africa. Currently featured on the Church Newsroom Blog, Elder Jeffery R. Holland’s recent visit to Sierra Leone to organize a stake there is just one among many stories and articles on the growth and service of the Church in Africa.
